Basic Philosophies

A parent with a substance abuse problem is going to have problems being a parent, even if they are not "high" when they are around their children.  Intoxicating substances or metabolites can remain in the bloodstream long after the last use.  The Courts of this State will not look favorably on any parent with an addiction problem, unless that parent is in active treatment or active recovery.  The best interests of the children require that level of protection.
A positive and supportive environment is critical to a child's development, and providing that is one of the most important roles of a parent.  Presenting that effectively to a Judge is critical in any dispute, and I would be glad to do so.
